With high-end sporty looks, crisp, inviting separates, and accessories with city-girl appeal, Celine's fans include style setters such as Jennifer Aniston and Lucy Liu. Launched in 1945 by Celine Vipiana, the house was originally successful in the shoe and accessory business. The 1960s saw the debut of Celine's fragrance line and prêt-à-porter collection, which Vipiana described as "couture sportswear." In 1997, Michael Kors took over design duties at the label, followed by Roberto Menichetti in 2004 and now former Chloé designer Phoebe Philo is at the helm.
